I'm trying to edit a 12G 1080p mkv file and the program I'm using now, SolviegMM video splitter, crashes with a runtime error when I try to load it, so I am looking for another lightweight mkv editor. The thing I liked about solvieg is that it didn't re-encode the file so there was no quality loss, which is something I always struggle with because I want to produce something of 1080p quality.

Any ideas?

mkvtoolnix - should do what you want, and as for video splitters you could give LAV Filters a try, based on ffmpeg, plays near enough everything

hi guys, why not try to convert the mkv video to Movie make supports format for editing . Windows Movie Maker is completely free. and there also some freeware supports to converting MKV video to wmv formats whichs supports with Movie Maker, such as Handbrake and Freemake are all works well, I have used Handbrake for years.

Hey EP! All good with me, applying for Microsoft MVP right now, should have done this a while ago.

Notifications don't work, I only found your response by coming back to hunt up some threads, if you want, give me your email address so we can keep in touch easier!

EP, glad to see you come back and tidy up...did want to ask a one day favor, I want to enhance my resume , was hoping you could make me administrator for a day, if so, take me right off since I won't be here to do anything, and don't know the slightest about the board, but it would be nice putting "served administrator osnn", if can do, THANKS

Been running around Quora lately, luv it there!
